Compassion international, sponsor a child in Jesus name

This is where we tell you about a charity that is very close to our hearts, so much so that it deserves a “shameless plug” on here. This space has not been paid for by Compassion or any of its members. Both Chelsea and Uilleam believe that this charity is a good one, hence their inclusion in this micro site.

So much so that Uilleam is an active supporter of Compassion and attempts to drive sponsors whenever possible. He has a real heart for these children.

The Mac Gafraidh’s have been sponsoring a child in Uganda for many years now and have been very happy with what we have received from both the child and Compassion. I just wish we wrote on a more regular basis to the child.

Compassion was founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 25 countries.

Compassion’s mission statement is as follows:

Releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name

In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.

Thanks for the “shameless plug” of Compassion. We all need to do this. Proverbs 31:8-9 says “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
